What is the best braided fishing line?

Here is a quick preview of my top picks of braided fishing line options on the market

  • Suffix 832
  • P-Line TCB 8 Carrier
  • Spiderwire Stealth Superline
  • KastKing SuperPower
  • Power Pro
  • Spiderwire Ultracast Invisi-Braid Superline
  • KastKing Mega 8 Super Performance

Suffix 832

Suffix 832is an amazing 8 fibre line that gives the fisherman a real feel for what’s going on in the water and a perfect way to act on it. 20-pound test is about as thick as 6-pound test monofilament line so there’s a huge difference of strength between the two, it is extremely strong.

Many braids are a lot more rigid than monofilament lines and this can give anglers used to casting on mono a hard time when they make the transition.

This particular option is a lot smoother and much less firm than others and this means it’s a perfect braid for fishermen wanting to transition from mono to braid. This seems to be a braid with all the benefits, but also coming close to a lot of the pros that come along with fishing with monofilament.

Suffix 832 also comes in three colors, ghost, neon lime and lo-vis green which means that there’s a variety of different colors for every condition.

This means that it is almost always possible for you to simply attach the braid right onto your rod to suit the conditions and still prevent the fish from seeing it.

P-Line TCB 8 Carrier

One of P-Line’s most famous innovations is it’s P-Line TCB 8 Carrier. Known for their copolymer and fluorocarbon P-Line has struck gold with their newly designed fishing line that’s truly revolutionised the angling world.

This line has even been hailed “The best braided “Superline” available to the angling community” by Pro Tackle Solutions. Built to last with a tightly woven 8-fibre design, this line is coated in some incredibly strong Dupont Teflon that creates an incredibly smooth and strengthened surface.

The smooth surface allows the braid to glide through the guides along your pole to achieve distances on casts that would previously be impossible, while the strength of the surface makes it perfect for fishing around structure thanks to how hardy it is when put up against abrasion.

Rocks and other things that would saw through other lines barely effect this well-made line and at such a low price point this braided fishing line is definitely something to keep in your tackle box, if not on your rods at all times.

Spiderwire Stealth Superline

Spiderwire Stealth Superline is an intensely strong braid made from Dyneema, what is recognised as the world’s strongest fibre.

Newly improved from their old formula this new version boasts an increase of 30% with regards to brute strength.

However, every fisherman knows we need a sensitive line and a strong fishing line at the same time. It is also known to be one of the more sensitive braids out there and many claim they feel they have eyes in the water because the braid grants them the ability to feel everything the line passes over quite well.

This is achieved through the braid’s no stretch design when the end of the line passes over any structure or you start to get bites you know about it right away.

Two of the more popular colors are Moss Green and Hi-Vis yellow which, respectively, work great for being essentially invisible to fish in the water and maximum visibility out of water, making it all that much easier to tie knots.

This fishing line is some of the thinnest on the market and is incredibly smooth, allowing for great casting distances with as little friction between the rod and the line occurring as possible.

This is a great, high quality braided fishing line for almost any situation.

KastKing SuperPower

KastKing SuperPower was released in 2013 this incredibly powerful braided fishing line has been a real hit amongst anglers everywhere.

It boasts a 4 and 8 fibre weave (depending on the pound-test strength of that particular line) that is sure to pull in even the biggest fish thanks to its incredible abrasion resistance and all around strength.

Braid is known for often fraying and the increased strength that this line provides is really a game changer for a lot of fishermen. Just like others on the market this option does not stretch and allows for incredible sensitivity, you’ll never miss a strike or a bite again.

This is also one of the softest, thinnest and smoothest braids on the market which means you’ll have absolutely no trouble casting the braid as far as you need to.

KastKing SuperPower offers a huge range of colours to fit any situation such as Ocean Blue (obviously for use in the ocean), Moss Green (perfect for lake fishing) and Low-Vis Gray for a more diverse range of situations.

KastKing has put out a quality line here and it is definitely very clear why this is one of the more popular lines currently in use.

Power Pro

Power Pro has long been one of the biggest names on the market for great quality and strength fishing braids and their MicroLine is no different.

This braid is made with an ultra-strong Spectra fibre woven together and treated with ‘Enhanced Body Technology’ to make it a round and very sensitive line. It is because of the sensitive of this line that many fishermen have said it is the best braid for bass fishing.

The selling point that Power Pro really likes to push on this line is just how thin their MicroLine is, and they aren’t lying. Definitely one of the thinnest lines out there, MicroLine is great for situations where the fish would normally spot the line and, due to new breakthroughs in technology, Power Pro also insists that this is the most sensitive line that they’ve ever sold, making it one of the best braided lines for saltwater fishing.

This line is actually so thin that many customers have complained that they often cut themselves simply handling this line and so care should definitely be taken when used, especially with hand lines.

This is definitely a testament to how thin this line truly is. I’d really recommend this line to anyone looking for a more sensitive and thinner fishing line.

Spiderwire Ultracast Superline

The Spiderwire Ultracast Superline is another incredibly high quality option from Spiderwire made of an ultra-smooth weave of 8 different pieces of fibre.

This line is astoundingly hard to see once submerged and almost entirely translucent when out of the water, a braid that is sure to not spook fish.

Part of Spiderwire’s more expensive range, this particular line is incredibly strong and resistant to abrasion and fraying, a great all round braid for any kind of angler. Ultracast Invisi-Braid is known for having next to no memory at all, a problem that braids often face, which makes it a fishing line that’s more than well-suited for long casts.

Due to the loose weave of the line, when wet, this line becomes essentially invisible, clearly what Spiderwire was trying to achieve with this blend.

Lastly, it has the perfect mix of firmness and flexibility for tying knots. All in all, definitely a braid that everyone should try out at some point, you won’t be disappointed.

KastKing Mega 8 Super Performance

KastKing Mega 8 Super Performance  has hit the shelves and it’s really causing a stir amongst anglers everywhere thanks to its amazing functionality paired with its great price point.

One of the supplest options currently on the market, the Mega 8 Super Performance  is absolutely divine for tying knots and features a new PPT coating to make it just as great for casting too.

The new technology doesn’t end there though, with the new formula being unbelievably resistant to fading, meaning that the line keeps its colour for many times longer than most.

This particular option comes in two colors, Black ops and Zombie Green, and while there are only two of them they cover a surprisingly wide number of situations quite well.

The green color is perfect for open water fishing and the black is great for pretty much everything else. This is an exceptionally durable and well-crafted braid that goes for a fraction of the price you’d expect to pay for such quality, most definitely a line that deserves a spot in any angler’s tackle box.
