Lindy Perch Talker

best ice fishing lures for perch

The first ice fishing lure that we are going to take a closer look at is the Lindy Perch Talker.

At first glance this lure might look like something you would find in your wife’s jewelry box, but would you believe me if I told you this is one of the best perch ice fishing lures?

Let’s just say they don’t call it the perch talker for nothing, but what is it about this lure that they gave it that silly name?

As you can see, the top portion has a few brass beads and discs, followed by a dropper chain and lastly, you have your treble hook.

This uniquely designed lure creates the perfect combination of color, flash, and sound to draw fish to you and catch more perch.

It is designed for vertical jigging so the best way to fish it is with a simple up and down motion.

Of course, you can enhance your presentation by tipping the hooks with your favorite bait.

It is available in many different colors including a few metallic options as well.

One of my favorite ways to work it is to have my buddy fish one color and I fish another. Sometimes the fish will take my buddy’s bait, sometimes they will take my bait. Either way, it is a win-win scenario.

Lastly, even though it is called the ‘perch talker’ you can have success catching many trout and walleye too.

What are you waiting for? Pick up the Lindy Perch Talker, today and start catching some jumbo perch.

Let’s take a closer look at this lure in the following video:

Clam Speed Spoon

Another great lure to entice perch to commit is the Clam Speed Spoon.

This lure consists of a small blade-like body that is followed by a drop chain and lastly, you have the hook.

The body design of this lure is what makes this bait unique and it is what makes it so effective when fishing for perch under the ice.

The slim minnow profile body helps the lure to drop down quickly to where the fish are holding up. It also helps to give the lure a unique flutter and a whole lot of flash when jigged with an up and down motion.

How to fish the clam speed spoon.

Simply tip the hook with your favorite live bait such as larvae or waxy worms, drop it in the hole, give it a few twitches of the rod and watch this lure catch you fish.

The best part about this lure is that it isn’t limited to catching you perch. It will also catch you, walleye, crappie and panfish.

Let’s take a closer look in the following video:

But that’s not all, the Speed Spoon can also be easily modified to create more flash and ultimately more buzz.

Let’s take a look at some modifications you can do with this lure in the following video:

Lindy Rattl’N Flyer Spoon

Another great lure for perch are spoons!

Remember that when ice fishing for perch, not just any ice fishing spoon will do. You need to choose one that is going to create a lot of flash. This is especially important when fishing dirty water.

In addition, look for a spoon that is going gives off a lot of erratic action as it falls into the hole and as you bounce it off the bottom.

As you can see from the picture the Lindy Rattl’n fly spoon, this is no ordinary spoon. This oddly shaped spoon is designed to create a lot of motion and actually help you to fish outside the hole.

It is for that reason, that we have included it on our list of the best ice fishing lures for perch.

This is not like any other spoon that you may have fished with before.

What makes it different is its unique shape. That unique shape helps it to dart in and out of the hole. Allowing you to fish a much larger area and helps to give it that erratic motion that drives fish wide.

Remember the more area you can fish, the better chances of catching more fish. With the Rattl’n fly, you aren’t limiting yourself to just fishing your ice hole.

VMC Champ Spoon

So we have established that perch love spoons.

That is exactly why they will also love the VMC Champ Spoon.

This is a brass spoon with beveled edges and tapered designed to get down deep quickly.

The beveled edges and overall body design of this lure help to give it a quick fluttering motion.

As we mentioned earlier the more flash and action the better your chances of getting hooked up. That is exactly what this lure has to offer. More flash, more flutter, and thus more perch.

Tip it with your favorite live bait sure a minnow head or worm to help them to commit. The VMC Champ spoon is available in a number of different sizes and colors, including a few glow in the dark options.

When ice fishing for perch, I would recommend fishing with the 1/16 ounce. If you are trying to weed out the smaller fish and trying to catch the jumbo perch I would recommend a larger size such as the 1/8 ounce.

Lastly, give this spoon a try when targeting walleye, crappie or panfish, you will be pleasantly surprised at how well this lure catches fish.

Check out the flutter of this spoon in the following video:

Custom Jigs and Spins Splender Spoon

Another great spoon designed to get perch’s attention is the Custom Jigs and Spins Splender Spoon.

As we have been talking about in this post when ice fishing for perch you need to fish with something that gives off a lot of flash.

What that is going to allow you to do, is even if you aren’t directly above the fish. The flash will help draw them in. Once you draw offer the fish, then you can start catching them.

We have already considered a number of different spoons in this list, but I also really like the flash and flutter of the Custom Splender. Keep in mind that isn’t as heavy as the clam speed spoon, so it is going to take longer to get down deep.

With that being said, it is always good to carry a number of different spoons and lures with you. This is important because one day the perch might want the splender and the next they might want something else.

In addition, having a number of different lures with you helps you to fish the water column more effectively.

Another thing I like about this spoon is it is available in a number of different colors, so you can easily find one that appeals to you and your fishing needs.

However, I like to go with either a silver or a gold spoon as I have found them to give off the most flash.

The best way to fish it for perch is to bait it with spikes and vertical jig it up and down.

Rapala Jigging Rap

ice fishing lures for perch

Let’s taking a closer look at next bait on the list, it is the Rapala Jigging Rap.

As you can see from the picture, the Jigging Rap has a small minnow body design, a single hook in the front and back and a treble hook down the center.

What makes this lure unique is the tail.

It is equipped with a small tail on the backend that helps to give it that crazy/erratic action while underwater.

The best way to fish it is to give it short twitches of the rod. You can do this by quickly lifting your rod up and down.

When you do this, the lure will dart back and forth much like a fleeing minnow making it simply irresistible to most fish.

The best part about this lure is that you aren’t limited to fishing in on hard water, but you can fish it year-round for your favorite fish.

A great lure to have in your tackle box whenever fishing for freshwater perch or walleye

Let’s take a closer look at the action of this lure in the following video:

Tooth Shield Tungsten Jig

ice fishing perch

If you can’t catch fish on any of the lures mentioned in this post, you will definitely get results by using a simple tungsten jig head such as Tooth Shield Jig Head and some live bait such as spikes, wigglers, or minnows.

This is probably one of the simplest lures to use on this list, but it also one of the most effective.

Simply bait it up and start jigging.
