If you could only fish with one lure for a day what lure would you choose? For me personally, I probably would grab a lipless crankbait.

Many would agree that lipless crankbaits are some of the best ways to catch big bass.

For one, the size of the lure allows you to throw them a mile, thus making it very easy to cover a lot of water.

They are also super easy to use, whether you like to work them across the bottom, burn them across the top or use the yo-yo retrieve, you are bound to catch a fish no matter the (or lack of) fishing experience you have.

Lastly, they give off a great about of vibration and sound that many have said acts like a dinner bell in drawing in bass for a bite.

What more can I say? These baits are a must have when fishing. However, did you know that there are several different types of lipless crankbaits available on the market today? What makes it worse is that no two lures are exactly alike. They all bring their own uniqueness to the fishing scene.

What are the best bass fishing lures? Talk about a difficult question to answer in a single blog post. With so many different types of bass lures and baits on the market, it is impossible to limit it down to one or even the top ten.

The reason that question is so difficult to answer is because there are a variety of different lure categories and under each category, there are several different kinds of baits.

Take, for example, crankbaits. Under the crankbait category, you have squarebill, single knocker, rattle, silent, lipless, deep diving and more are coming to the market each and every year. Then once you choose a subcategory there are a number of different brands that make the lure within the subcategory unique to its brand. And to think that is just the crankbait category.

We also need to take into consideration the seasons. There are lures that work best in the summer, and there are lures that work best in the fall. The same can be said about post spawn vs pre-spawn, and spring vs winter.

Wow! What a question! There are so many different crankbaits on the market today, how could we possibly narrow it down to just a few?

Take, for example, the square bill crankbait, could you narrow it down to your top 5 favorite squarebills? There are hundreds if not thousands of different lures that fall under this category. To pick just 5 or even 10 would be difficult (believe me I’ve tried).

Now, let’s think about the broader question: what are the best crankbaits for bass? That question is even more difficult to answer, but I like challenges, so in this post, I am going to try to answer that question.
